Just Chill: Unlock the Power of Freezing Peptides

While the name may cause you to shiver and think of ice, freezing peptides actually have nothing to do with a cold temperature. Instead, these youth-reclaiming agents are responsible for making your facial muscles relax, thereby reducing wrinkles. As you can imagine, peptides are a hot commodity in skincare for this very reason.

And while guys are known to age extremely well, none of us welcome the thought of a wrinkle-lined face. So as more and more laugh lines try to take up residence on our skin, it’s important we start to unleash the power of peptides…more specifically, the ‘freezing’ peptide. Here’s a little bit about what they are and what they do.

WHAT IT IS

A peptide is (essentially) a compound that is made up of two or more amino acids. Freezing peptides are often called neurotransmitter peptides because their job is to prevent muscle contraction, leading to fewer wrinkles. There are three primary peptides that have the ‘freezing’ function:

  • Argireline (acetyl hexapeptide 8) lessens neurotransmitter release, so the ‘wrinkle message’ is stopped from being released or sent altogether.
  • Inyline (acetyl hexapeptide 30) is a somewhat new peptide that blocks muscle-specific kinase. This means that the ‘wrinkle message’ we mentioned is prevented from being heard or received.
  • Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate (say that five times fast!) is a small peptide that mimics the polypeptide present in the venom of the Temple Viper, working to smooth lines that already exist and halt future ones from appearing.

HOW IT WORKS

The main function of freezing peptides is to disrupt the process in which your facial muscles send and receive messages to contract. By interfering with this communication system, wrinkles are often abated before they can ever make their mark.

Freezing peptides work similarly to Botox or other popular fillers, as they suppress acetylcholine (one of the neurotransmitters that aids muscle contraction). Where they differ from fillers, however, is in the fact that freezing peptides only hinder the message to contract instead of actually paralyzing your muscles (as Botox, et al. do).

So as you continue along the path of living and aging (charmingly, of course), you can help stop time in its tracks – at least when it comes to your face. Try this skin firming peptide (Mineral Freeze) that brings together organic compounds of vitamin C, hematite extracts and peptides to give you strengthened and more youthful skin. Just take a deep breath and be chill. Freezing peptides work!
