Are You A Classic Man?
Being a “Classic Man” isn’t about birthright, how much money you have, or social status – it’s the pursuit of an ideal. That ideal is open to individual interpretation of course, but we like to think in addition to being an all around outstanding human being, it also includes taking impeccable care of your skin.
And taking impeccable care of your skin needn’t be an overly complicated process. In fact, there are just five simple skin laws you need to remember: cleanse, exfoliate, tone, rebuild, protect. Grooming could be the sixth law, but even that process can be integrated into the below five laws to simplify the art of of skin care.
Cleanse. This is the single most important thing you can do for your skin. A good cleanser – not that bar soap in your shower – will help remove the culprits that contribute to troublesome things like acne and aging. A quality cleanser with salicylic acid will help keep skin clean and dapper. For quick clean ups after the gym or practice, turn to cleansing pads.
Exfoliate. This could be as quick and simple as using a nice scrub in the shower or even your morning shave could suffice. Or you could spend five to ten minutes with a mask to exfoliate and purify the skin.
Tone. Toning after cleansing or shaving will refresh the skin and help strengthen and hydrate it. A toner with peptides, stone extracts, and sodium hyaluronate will support the skin with strength, nutrients, and hydration.
Restore and rebuild. The skin is constantly rebuilding itself, but it can use all the support it can get in doing so. This is where antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and peptides (read protein) come into play. For this you might turn to a peptide and vitamin-rich formula or even a post-shave oil with antioxidants. The latter will pull double duty – soothing your skin after the shave, but also giving it the nourishment it needs to stay strong and healthy.
Protect. Ok, I take back my previous statement...while cleansing is one of the most important things you can do for your skin, so too is protecting it. Us guys are notoriously bad about this part. But really, a daytime protection formula that uses a mineral blocker like zinc to protect against toxins and pollutants will help prevent a host of skin complications in the future. Protect what you have!
Part of what defines the term “classic” is highest quality. When you embrace your inner classic man, be sure to give your skin the highest quality care – and don’t forget to apply the idea of highest quality to how you approach life overall.
