New Year’s Resolutions that Pull Double Duty
It’s a new year and with it comes a new set of goals and resolutions. Let’s face it though, sometimes even the best intentions stall and our newly set resolutions to improve ourselves in some manner fall by the wayside.
But knowing your resolution can produce some ancillary benefits could give you more incentive to stick to them. Quitting smoking, resolving to eat less sugar, getting more sleep, not sweating the small stuff, and exercising can not only improve your health, but also improve the appearance of your skin.
Reduce sugar intake – sugar not only expands your waistline, it also wreaks havoc on the skin by essentially breaking down its collagen network. What does this do? It makes you appear older. You don’t have to eliminate it completely, but everything in moderation. You might also offset sugar’s impact by eating more antioxidants and using an anti-aging skin formula like Radical Redux.
Get more sleep – the body and skin repair themselves during rest. The more you get, the more reparation can take place.
Quit smoking – this is a major free-radical producer. It actually affects intrinsic (biological) and extrinsic (external) aging. It is not only toxic to the skin and body, but it also dehydrates the skin and causes deep lines to form around the upper lip. Attractive huh?
Don’t sweat the small stuff – stress damages health at the cellular level and can eventually lead to DNA damage, which can result in dull skin, slack pores, aging, and stress lines. Get outside, laugh more, take up yoga, and make time for yourself. A spa visit is always a great way to relax. This can be as simple as a 30-minute express treatment like the RA for Men Express.
Exercise more – exercise is of course essential to maintaining a toned physique, it also regulates circulation and the oxygen flow to skin cells. This process carries nutrients to the cells and keeps them healthy. Be careful though, excessive exercise can have the opposite effect because it causes oxidative stress created by free radicals.
If you’re feeling ambitious, you might consider setting another resolution just for better skin care in 2013. This might actually prove to be the one resolution you stick with, especially if you keep it simple. Focus on the simple mantra – cleanse, build, protect. The RA for Men Simple Method Kit takes the guesswork out of good skin care.
Make 2013 a happy, healthy and prosperous year!
